Edith Louise Diers, 95, of Wayland, died at 1 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

Born May 5, 1908, in Four Corners, she was the daughter of Charles J. and Margaret Pohren Graf. On Oct. 25, 1932, she married Harlan J. Diers in Germanville. He died June 24, 1989.

Mrs. Diers was a farm homemaker.

She lived most of her life in Germanville. She moved to Wayland in 1976. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and the HLCW in Germanville. She was a 4-H leader for the Walnut Lassies Club.

Survivors include two sons, Robert H. Diers of Wayland and Everett J. Diers of El Paso, Texas; one daughter, Ruth Rhoades of Brighton; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Hill of Washington; and two sisters-in-law.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, one sister and one granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

The funeral for Mrs. Diers will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hope Lutheran Church in Germanville, with the Revs. Marvin Mueller and David Franker officiating. Burial will be in Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Germanville.

Memorials have been established for Hope Lutheran Church, Wayland Responders and the Van Vorhies Haus activity fund.
