Geneva Fort, 88, of Wayland, died Monday, June 16, 2003, at Parkview Home in Wayland.

Born Aug. 26, 1914, in Calloway County, Mo., she was the daughter of George Y. and Nancy Elizabeth Castleman Lail. On Nov. 22, 1929, she married William Emil Fort in Montgomery City, Mo. He died Feb. 4, 1998.

Mrs. Fort attended United Methodist New Life Parish Church in Wayland and was involved with the United Methodist Women. She helped with preschool. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening and, in her younger years, dancing.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Fort of Washington and Ron Fort of Central City; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and two sisters-in-law.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sons and four sisters.

Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland. There will be no family visitation.

The funeral for Mrs. Fort will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist New Life Parish Church in Wayland, with the Rev. Kenneth Hartman officiating. Burial will be in Center Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for Wayland Rescue Squad and United Methodist New Life Parish Church of Wayland.
