Patrick Henry Hoover Sr., 69, formerly of Mount Pleasant and Burlington, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at Banner Gardens Hospice in Mesa, Ariz.

Born Nov. 19, 1933, in Mount Pleasant, he was the son of Steven and Mary Swailes Hoover. In 1954, he married Betty Snow in Mount Pleasant. On Oct. 29, 1977, he married Janice Mae Green in Burlington.

Mr. Hoover barbered in Cedar Rapids and Mount Pleasant. In the 1970s, he relocated to Bur-lington, where he barbered at the Burlington Hotel for 13 years. In 1980, he worked at John's Barber Shop in Mesa.

He received his education in the Mount Pleasant schools and graduated from the Cedar Rapids Barber College in 1960.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Navy Commander Patrick H. Hoover Jr. of Sacramento and Gary Hoover of Washington; two daughters, Cynthia Rebling of rural Mount Pleasant and Laurie McVey of Wayland; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Hoover of Mount Pleasant; and two sisters, Mary Prottsman of Mount Pleasant and Ida Barron of New London.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

The body of Mr. Hoover has been cremated. A time of remembrance and a memorial service will beat a later date this spring in Mount Pleasant.

Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant is in charge of arrangements.
