Mabel K. Bontrager, 89, of Keokuk, formerly of the Wayland area, died after a lengthy illness Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002, at Great River Medical Center in Burlington.

Born March 12, 1913, in Olds, she was the daughter of Armand and Mary Christner Gisser. On Sept. 4, 1938, she married Monroe Bontrager in Noble. He died Feb. 27, 1996.

Survivors include one son, Edward Bontrager of Burnsville, Minn.; two daughters, Shirley Evens Wing of Columbus, Ohio, and Mary Ellen Blacksmith of Burlington; and five grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister and one granddaughter.

There will be no visitation.

The graveside service for Mrs. Bontrager will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Eicher Mennonite Cemetery with Richard Wing officiating.

Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland is in charge of arrangements.
