Edna Mae Orendorff Taylor, 100, of Menomonie, Wis., died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie.

Born Sept. 11, 1901, in Wayland, she was the daughter of Daniel and Mollie Gerig Orendorff. On June 9, 1920, she married John Arthur Taylor. He died in 1951.

Mrs. Taylor taught school in Washington and Davenport, retiring at age 70.

She grew up in Wayland and was the first Mennonite girl to attend high school. She attended Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, graduating with a degree in education. She and her husband lived in Iowa and Superior, Wis. After her husband's death she returned to Iowa to teach. After retiring, she moved to Menomonie.

She was a member of Menomonie United Methodist Church. In her lay ministries, she attended many Lay Witness Missions and participated in the Walk to Emmaus. She also was given the Harry Denman Evangelism Award for her outstanding evangelism in the state of Wisconsin. She was a member of the PEO sisterhood for 62 years and was instrumental in organizing several new chapters in Iowa and Wisconsin.

Survivors include three daughters, Evelyn Burgraff of Ankeny, Marianne Koser of Barnes, Wis., and Jane Stoneburner of Racine, Wis.; one son, John Taylor of Menomonie; 20 grandchildren; numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Geneva Boshart of Wayland.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter and one grandson.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services Friday at the United Methodist Church in Menomonie.

The funeral for Mrs. Taylor will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Menomonie, with the Revs. Marilynn Rushton and David Boshart officiating.

The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Wayland Cemetery in Wayland, with the Rev. David Boshart officiating.

Stanton-Goodrich-Rhiel Funeral Home in Menomonie and Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant are in charge of arrangements.
