Janice R. Mason, 45, of Wayland, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Born Nov. 30, 1956, in Jerseyville, Ill., she was the daughter of Virgil and Betsy Booth Haneline. On Dec. 17, 1985, she married James A. Mason in Keokuk.

Mrs. Mason was a resident of Wayland for the past 10 years. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Church in Mount Pleasant. She enjoyed wildlife, fishing and photography.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Betsy Joline Mason of Wayland; her mother and stepfather, Betsy and Clyde Wallace of Alton, Ill.; four sisters, Deborah Stagner of South Roxana, Ill., Cheryl Scoggins of Alton, Lynn Stewart of Godfrey, Ill., and Mary Spence of Shipman, Ill.; one brother, James Haneline of Alton; three stepsisters, Vickey Bennett of Hardin, Ill., Valerie Shea of Fieldon, Ill., and Vaunda Richardson of Jerseyville; one stepbrother, Vernon Wallace of Godfrey; her grandmother, Edith Haneline of Jerseyville; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, paternal grandfather and maternal grandparents.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk. A rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m.

A memorial service for Mrs. Mason will be at a later date in Alton.

A memorial has been established for her daughter's education.
