Minnie Wenger Roth, 91, of Parkview Nursing Home in Wayland since 1992, died Monday, April 8, 2002, at the nursing home.

Born October 24, 1910, on a Henry County farm south of Wayland, she was the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Good Wenger. She married Elmer G. Roth on Dec. 30, 1930, at the home of her parents. He died June 25, 1992.

Mrs. Roth was a loving and helpful neighbor, a skilled and productive gardener and cook, and active in the church and community. She was a charter member of Bethel Mennonite Church, since 1950.

Survivors include three sons, Willard E. of Elkhart, Ind., Royce B. of Crawfordsville and Larry D. of Wayland; two daughters, Karen K. Watson of Washington and Janice E. Lindner of Keokuk; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four foster grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Richard of Mount Pleasant and Frances Wyse of Wayland; and one brother, Clarence Wenger of Wayland.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother and one grandson.

Visitation will begin at noon today at Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friends also may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bethel Mennonite Church in Wayland.

The funeral for Mrs. Roth will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Phil Slabaugh officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for her church and Crooked Creek Christian Camp.
