Betty J. Stover, 76, of Nipoma, Calif., formerly of the Mount Pleasant area, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at her sister's home in Nipoma following a lengthy illness.

Born Aug. 5, 1925, in Burchard, Neb., she was the daughter of Leonard C. and Esther I. Manning Calhoun.

She married Edward Lauthan who was killed in action during World War II. She married Richard Stover, who she later divorced.

Following her marriage, she lived in Anaheim, Calif., for 17 years before moving to Utah where they were dairy farmers. They retired in 1985 and moved to Nipoma.

Mrs. Stover enjoyed genealogy, traveling and stamp collecting.

Survivors include one daughter, Sherri Davis of Mesa, Ariz.; one brother, Dallas Schirmer of Payson, Utah; three sisters, Lola Bringhurst of Nipoma; Dorothy Bevins of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Bessie De Grange of Donnellson; two grandsons; and eight nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one son.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Stover will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Beatty Funeral Home with Robert Borders officiating. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery, west of Wayland.

A memorial has been established for the Cottonwood United Methodist Church.
