Oleta Grace Rich, 100, Park Place Care Center, Mount Pleasant, died at 3:50 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001, at the care center.

Born Sept. 3, 1901, in rural Wayland, she was the daughter of Harlan Melvin and Edith Clara Egli Smith. In 1922, she married Nicholas Valentine Rich in Mount Pleasant. He died in June 1958.

Mrs. Rich was involved in home care in the Trenton area. She was a cook for Iowa Wesleyan College and the Sigma Epsilon Fraternity of IWC.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant, American Baptist Women, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Rebekkah Lodge. She also served as Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include five sons, Marvin Rich of Findlay, Ohio, Dean Rich of Des Moines, James Rich of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Edward Rich of Lockridge and Willis Rich of Fort Myers, Fla.; four daughters, LaVon Zear of Washington, Iowa, Lorraine Swanson of Madrid, Iowa, Joyce Stull of Mount Pleasant and Doris Hall of New Port Richey, Fla.; 30 grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Francis Smith of Mount Pleasant; and one sister, Mildred Kirk of Fort Myers.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be from noon until 9 p.m. Monday at Weir Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8 p.m. Family visitation also will be one hour prior to the service Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant.

The funeral for Mrs. Rich will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. David Plooster officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.

A memorial has been established for First Baptist Church.
