Mary Baldosier 1925 - 2001

Mary M. Baldosier, 76, formerly of Lockridge, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at Parkview Home in Wayland.

Born May 27, 1925, in rural Jefferson County, she was the daughter of Lester and Rilla Hinkle Kientz. On Sept. 10, 1947, she married Dale A. Baldosier in Nashua. He died Feb. 2, 1995.

Mrs. Baldosier taught school in Jefferson County rural schools for five years. For 22 years, she was a housekeeper at the Jefferson County Hospital. She retired in 1990.

She graduated from Brighton High School and received a teaching certificate from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant. She lived most of her life in Lockridge, moving to Wayland in November 1997. She was a lifetime member of Hope Lutheran Church of Germanville. She enjoyed spending time with her family, quilting at her church, cooking and visiting with friends.

She and her husband enjoyed short jaunts and daily trips to town. She liked spending time with the Lockridge senior citizens and volunteered at the Crowded Closet in Iowa City. She was a member of the Henry County Cancer Support Group at the Henry County Health Center.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Pratt of Lockridge, Becky Rebling of Brighton and Judy Crile of Mount Pleasant; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Robert Kientz of Brighton; and one sister, Karen Taglauer of Wayland.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Baldosier will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hope Lutheran Church, near Germanville, with the Rev. Stephen Estrem officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for Hope Lutheran Church and Washington County Hospice.
