Goldie E. Cox, 82, formerly of Mount Pleasant, died Wednesday morning, March 14, 2001, at Meadow Lane Nursing Care Center in Davenport.

Born Aug. 6, 1918, near Wayland, she was the daughter of John W. and Lula M. Knerr Miller. She married Ray Cook in 1936. She later married Wilmer Cox in 1956.

Mrs. Cox attended schools in Wayland and worked as a cook in local restaurants. She also worked on a production line at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown.

Survivors include one son, Whitney Cox of Kahoka, Mo.; one daughter, Marie Noblitt of Galesburg, Ill.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, John Miller of DeQueens, Ark.; and one sister, Pearl Dougherty of Winterset.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. today at Weir Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. There will be no family visitation.

The funeral for Mrs. Cox will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Forest Home Cemetery with the Rev. David Looster officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
