Robert Triska

Robert D. Triska, 72, of Salem, died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born April 2, 1929, in Iowa City, he was the son of George and Clara McDowell Triska. On June 19, 1949, he married Lola Van Winkle at Salem Friends Church.

Mr. Triska and his son, Jack, farmed on the family farm, just south of Salem, until he retired in 1990.

He was a lifelong resident of Salem and a graduate of Salem High School. When not working, he enjoyed fishing, deer and pheasant hunting and traveling with his wife and family.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Judy Ross of Wayland and Janice Moxley of Council Bluffs; one son, Jack Triska of Council Bluffs; four grandchildren; his mother, Clara Triska-Farr of Bolivar, Mo.; and one brother, Richard Triska of Salem.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother.

There will be no visitation or memorial service.

Memorials have been established for Salem Fire Department and the Salem EMTs.

Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant is in charge of local arrangements.
