Mrs. Sarah Hodson Funeral Held

The memorial service for Mrs. Sarah Hodson was held at the Cookes Funeral Home Sunday morning at 9:30. Dr. George G. Hunt of the First Methodist Church was in charge. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Beck sang, and Mrs. Max Stein played the organ.

At the service which followed at 10:30 in the Cedar Creek Friends church, Mrs. Bessie Collins officiated and the Brown quartette sang. Pallbearers were Fred Brown, Harry Cooper, Dewey Hodson, Herman Hallowell, Ollie Kruse, and Perry Mendenhall. Interment was in the Cedar Creek cemetery.

Sarah Ruth Lupton, daughter of Samuel F. and Sarah Lupton was born on a farm near Denova, north of Salem, Feb. 20, 1872. After failing health of a year, she became worse the last two weeks and departed from this life, Feb. 18, 1949.

On March 25, 1891, she was united in marriage to George W. Hodson, and to this union were born two children: Charles E. of Mt. Pleasant and Mrs. Sylvia Baker of Yarmouth.

She had been a member of the Cedar Friends Church since girlhood. She was one who always thought of others and went where and when needed, in sickness and death. She was a kind and loving mother and a faithful wife and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Besides her husband and two children, she leaves to mourn her passing 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, a brother, Harve Lupton of Gate, Okla., and a host of neighbors and friends. Her mother, father, 3 brothers, 4 sisters, 1 grandchild, and 1 great-grandchild preceded her in death.
