Beulah E. Osborne, 77, of Wayland, died Thursday morning, March 29, 2001, at Washington County Hospital in Washington, Iowa.
Born Sept. 7, 1923, near Keota, she was the daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Lydia Adeline Amlong McAvoy. On Nov. 22, 1945, she married Ralph Osborne in South Carolina. He died in March 1984.
Mrs. Osborne owned the Credit Bureau in Washington for 27 years and later worked for United Presbyterian Home in Washington.
She was a graduate of Davenport Central High School and attended AIB College in Des Moines. She attended Victory Fellowship Church in Brighton. She was a duel member of the Order of Eastern Star in the Wayland Chapter 494 and the Brighton Chapter 486.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Osborne of Davenport and Ralph L. Osborne Jr. of Brighton; two daughters, Cheryl Osborne of Wayland and Mary Lou Swailes of Mount Pleasant; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert McAvoy of Washington; and two sisters, Mary Schladweiler of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Fleta Spivey of Washington.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one great-grandson.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. today at Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be an Order of Eastern Star Service at 7 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Osborne will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Independent Bible Church in Wayland, with Pastor Bob Wolf officiating. Burial will be in North Hill Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
