James "Jim" Wyse, 70, of Wayland, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Born Dec. 29, 1929, in Mount Pleasant, he was the son of Noah and Minnie Black Wyse. On Feb. 20, 1955, he married Roberta Shaffer at Wayland

Mr. Wyse farmed most of his life until his retirement.

He was a Korean War veteran. He was a member of Eicher Emmanuel Mennonite Church and the Wayland Christmas Committee.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Kendra Wyse of Wayland; and one sister, Barbara Wyse of Parkview Home in Wayland.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Wyse will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Eicher Emmanuel Mennonite Church, with the Rev. Melvin Koehn officiating. Burial will be in the Center Cemetery, east of Wayland.

A memorial has been established for Eicher Emmanuel Mennonite Church and the Wayland First Responders.
