Darlene Houseal, 83, Fairfield, died at 2:02 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, at the Jefferson County Hospital.

Born Nov. 17, 1917, at Wayland, she was the daughter of Roy and Cecil Haifley Manning. On Nov. 5, 1939, she married Bennie G. Houseal at Washington, Iowa. They lived most of their married life in the Germanville community, moving to Fairfield in 1971. He died Oct. 24, 1974.

Mr. Houseal was a homemaker and worked in the housekeeping departments at Parkview Care Center and the Jefferson County Hospital.

Survivors include a daughter, Cedra Schlatter of Olds; a son, Gary Houseal of Germanville; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Keith Manning of Bradford, R.I.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Visitation will begin a 8 a.m. Thursday at Raymond Funeral Home, Fairfield, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Houseal will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Raymond Funeral Home with Diana Brokken officiating.

Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to the Polishville Association.
