Bill Fort

Bill Fort, 70, of Pleasantville, died of cancer Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

He was born in Shamrock, Mo., and raised in Henry County.

He lived in Mount Pleasant before moving to Knoxville in 1959 and then to Pleasantville in 1964. He was a member of the Lions Club and St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Gracie; two sons, William Fort of Woodbury, Minn., and Randy Fort of Knoxville; two daughters, Linda Brons of Northglenn, Colo., and Lisa Carter of Powell, Wyo.; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his mother, Geneva of Wayland; and three brothers, George Fort of Wayland, Jim Fort of Washington, Iowa, and Ronnie Fort of Central City.

Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. today at Mason Funeral Home in Pleasantville, where the family will receive friends from 3 until 5 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Fort will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Mason Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, near Knoxville.

A memorial has been established for St. Paul's United Meth-odist Church.
