Harold R. Wells, 89, of Mount Pleasant, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant. Born Aug. 19, 1916, in Stronhurst, Ill., he was the son of George A. and Ruth E. Frounfelter Wells.
He married and divorced Frances Boecker. On Oct. 27, 1966, he married Esther Boecker. She died Nov. 6, 1990. On Feb. 17, 1992, he married Blanche Howsare. She died in February 2002.
Mr. Wells owned and operated his own trucking business and farmed.
He was a graduate of Stronghurst High School. He was a World War II disabled Army veteran and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Gladstone, Ill., and Winfield, and a member of Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed raising horses and playing cards. He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Watts and Diana Wolfe, both of Burlington; two sons, Dennis R. Boecker of Siloam Springs, Ark., and Donald D. Boecker of Broomfield, Colo.; one stepdaughter, Linda Decker of Burlington; six grandchildren; 13 great–grandchildren; and one sister, Hazle Kern of Carthage, Ill.
Besides his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. to the time of service Monday at Honts Funeral Home in Winfield. The funeral for Mr. Wells will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Honts Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tom Connors officiating. Burial will be in Winfield–Scott Township Cemetery.
