Herman Wolf, 100, formerly of Winfield, died Monday Oct. 17, 2005, at Atrium Village Care Center in Hills. Born March 21, 1905, on the family farm in Winfield, he was the son of William David and Callie Belle DeYarman Wolf.
On May 25, 1933, he married Marguerite Reynolds in Winfield. She died on May 10, 2000.
Mr. Wolf was a farmer. He attended a country school known as Philomethian and was a graduate of the Olds high school. He helped wheel cement for the new Winfield high school, and the money he earned paid for his college.
He was a graduate of Iowa State University with a bachelor's degree in animal husbandry. He lettered in wrestling at Iowa State University and was a member of the TKE fraternity.
He was a member of the Winfield First Presbyterian Church, where he has served as treasurer, trustee, and elder. He was a 75–year member of Good Faith Masonic Lodge, a former member of the Winfield School Board and past president of the Farmers National Bank board. He recently received a plaque from Gov. Vilsack for his 100–year family farm.
Survivors include two sons, Raoul Wolf of Letts and John Wolf of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Mary Sue Whistler of Conway, Ark., and Ann Brunsvold of Comfort, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 18 great–grandchildren and several great–great–grandchildren.
Beside his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
There will be no visitation.The memorial service for Mr. Wolf will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in Winfield, with the Rev. Jim Edwards officiating. A private family burial will be in the Winfield–Scott Township Cemetery.A memorial has been established.
