Wilma E. Adkins, 84, of Fort Madison died at 1:20 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2005, at Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield. Born Dec. 24, 1920, in Yarmouth, she was the daughter of Chester and Nellie Coppes Venghous.
In November 1950, she married Edwin Hartman. He died in November of 1959. On April 13, 1963, she married Archie Adkins. He died July 3, 1982.
Mrs. Adkins worked for the civil service for several years. She then worked for 36 years at Sheaffer–Eaton before retiring.
She was a graduate of Yarmouth High School and attended business college in Burlington. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, making quilts and embroidering.
Survivors include one brother, Lewis Venghous of Mount Union; two nieces; and five great–nieces.
Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents.Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at King–Lynk Funeral Home in Fort Madison, where the family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Adkins will be at 2 p.m. Monday at King–Lynk Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Simpson officiating. Burial will be in Soldiers' Circle in Oakland Cemetery in Fort Madison.
A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society.
