Pauline Ina Bare, 90, of Mount Pleasant died Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born Feb. 1, 1915, in Wayland, she was the daughter of Clever Henry and Effie Saloma Sharp Wittmer. On Sept. 16, 1946, she married Richard Clayton Bare. He died March 20, 1993. Mrs. Bare worked as a clerk at the Montgomery Ward hardware department, as a cook at Pleasant Inn and as a production worker at both McCleery–Cummings Calendar Co. and a pearl button factory, all in Washington. She also worked as a clerk in the Hoaglin Department Store in Mount Pleasant. Following her marriage until 1959, she was a farm wife.

She was a 1933 graduate of Wayland High School. She and her husband made their home briefly in Ohio before establishing residence in Oregon in 1973. She returned to Mount Pleasant in 1997. She was a member of Faith Christian Outreach Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 2561 of Mount Pleasant. She and her husband helped build the Assembly of God Church on South Street in Mount Pleasant. They also served as foster parents to several young people in the area. For a while, she also did laundry ironing for several people. In her spare time, she loved to raise flowers and vegetables in her gardens. She also enjoyed dabbling in oil painting.

Survivors include two sons, William of Mount Pleasant and Robert of Denton, Texas; one daughter, Bonnie Lofting of Mount Pleasant; six grandchildren; and one great–granddaughter.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter and three brothers.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Weir & Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Bare will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Faith Christian Outreach Church in Mount Pleasant, with Pastor Monte Knudson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant. A memorial has been established for Love A Child Inc.
