~ 150 ATTEND EVENT IN NEW CLUB HOUSE ~
Informal Socital Event Marks Opening of Building For Use By Members
About 150 gathered at the new Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club house Friday evening for a supper and social time at which it was announced that the building was ready for the use of the members of the organization.
The event, sponsored by a committee named by the board of directors of the club, was successful in every way according to those attending and the only regret was that it was impossible for a few of the members to be present.
Many went out to the grounds early in the afternoon and enjoyed one or more rounds on the golf course. Then the men assembled near the house while on the interior the women prepared a picnic supper to which each had contributed. Tables were loaded with appetizing food and all enjoyed this feature of the event.
Following the supper C. S. Rogers, on behalf of the committee, introduced the master of ceremonies, V. D. Morris who took charge of the remaining events and kept the boxed orchestra playing by the use of a large supply of nickels. First was a grand march led by the president of the club, F. M. Edwards and Mrs. Edwards.
A portion of the members retired to the porch for bridge and others enjoyed dancing which included two-steps and the Virginia reel to the strains of the accordion played by Sam Clawson.
The party had been planned as an informal affair and was carried out as such with success. Other events varying in entertainment will be held in the coming weeks.
