MARY MARGARET MAGUIRE
Funeral services for Mary Margaret Maguire, 55, were held Saturday, April 27 at the Christian Church in Logan at 10:00 a.m. She passed away April 24 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Pastor David Cunningham officiated with organist, Vicki Koenig. Vocalists were Travis and Amy Wilcox. Vocal selections were: “It Is Well With My Soul” and “Pass Me Not O’Gentle Soul.” Casket bearers were: Steve Landon, Randy Plath, Larry Landon, Rodney Plath, Matthew Chase and Michael Maguire.
Mary Margaret Maguire was born June 22, 1946 in Magnolia to Dean Walter and Martha Mary (Freymuller) Girton. She attended and graduated from the Logan Magnolia High School. Mary Margaret was married to Jerry L. Maguire, June 11, 1966 in Magnolia. They farmed in the Logan area, where she was very active in the farming operation. Mary Margaret was a member of the Omaha Church of Christ, Logan Mo-Valley Country Club, Westmont Care Center Advocacy Committee. Mary Margaret was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she loved spending time with her family and visiting people in the nursing home. She enjoyed running the farm machinery, gardening, flowers, golfing, bird watching, traveling to Hawaii, baking pies and cookies. Mary Margaret was an Iowa State Certified master Gardener and took care of the flowers at Westmont Care Center and the Country Club.
Survivors include her husband; Jerry L. of Logan; sons: Douglas Richard and wife Agnes of Milalani [Mililani], Hawaii; Wayne David and wife Lonnie of Logan; grandchildren: Chase Riley son of Wayne and Lonnie; Gracelynn Magnolia, daughter of Douglas and Agnes; sisters: Betty Plath of Logan; Nadene Bryan and husband Robert of Jamaica, IA; Audrey Girton of Magnolia; Alice Landon of Logan; Ardith Crow of Tempe, AZ.; brother: Richard Girton and wife Annie of Fajardo, Puerto Rico; father and mother-in-law: Mick and Lorraine Maguire of Logan; sister-in-law: Mrs. Pat (Darrel) Girton, many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-laws; sisters-in-laws.
Mary Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Martha Girton of Magnolia; brother Darrel Girton of Ames.
Final resting place was in Bethel Cemetery, Logan. Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
