Diana Maguire, 11, services held Friday
Diana Jan Maguire, 11, drowned last Tuesday evening when she was swept by rising waters into a culvert while trying to save her pet dog.
The drowning occurred about 6:20 p.m. following a downpour about 5 p.m. that had drenched the Logan area with about three inches of rain in 45 minutes.
She was pulled from the water by the Logan Rescue Squad and was dead on arrival at the Missouri Valley Hospital.
Diana was a sixth grade student at Lo-Ma elementary school.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Logan Christian Church, with the Rev. Robert H. Evans officiating and burial at Bethel Cemetery near Logan. Music was by Mrs. Judy Dinkel and Mrs. Mary Lynn Espenmiller, accompanied by Mrs. Donna Erickson. Bearers were Rick Ohl, Bill Shadden, Wayne Dayhuff, Kent McBride, Ron Barney and Lyle Michael.
Survivors include the parents; Mr. and Mrs. Larry Maguire; two sisters, Kathy Jo and Ronda, both at home; grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Marion Maguire and Mr. and Mrs. Amon Oviatt, all of Logan; and great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edd Chappel and Mr. and Mrs. William Maguire, all of Logan.
The Schumacher Funeral Home at Logan was in charge of arrangements.
