Mrs Henry Walters

Mrs Matilda Wilbeimina Walters, nee Ziemke, was born July 20, 1858, in Janewitz, Pommerania, Germany, and passed away on Thursday afternoon in her home in Eldora at 1:15 at the age of 79 years, 5 months, and 16 days. Funeral services were held at St Paul's Lutheran church Sunday afternoon, the Rev C Hesse officiating. Burial took place in the Eldora cemetery.
Mrs Walters was baptized in her infancy and confirmed in the Lutheran faith after due instruction at the place of her birth. In 1876, being 18 years old, she came to America and with a group of other immigrants settled in Hardin county. In 1882 she was united in holy wedlock with Henry Walters, with who she shared the joys and sorrows of life more than 55 years. With the exception of a short time spent in South Dakota the family lived on a farm southeast of Hubbard until 1920, when they moved to Eldora.
The deceased mother had been in poor health for some time. She was bedfast about five weeks. she is survived by her husband, the five sons: Albert of Hubbard, Charles of Eldora, henry and Frank of New Providence, and Jess of Eldora; the five daughters; Mrs Anna Wolford of Butterfield, Minn, Mrs Grace Diehl of Jewell, Mrs Marie McCoy of Eldora, Mrs Ruth Buffington of Butterfield, Minn, and Mrs Clara Buffington of Zearing; besides these 26 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one brother, Charles Ziemke of Hubbard, and many near and distant relatives, and a host of friends.
