HAMPTON—Marilyn Joan Smolik, 69, of Hampton passed away Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at the Muse-Norris Inpatient Center of Hospice of North Iowa, Mason City. Memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at the Bethany Lutheran Church, Iowa Falls, with inurnment at a later date at the Hampton Cemetery. The Linn’s Funeral Homes, Iowa Falls Chapel, has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Marilyn was born Aug. 1, 1935, in Iowa Falls, the daughter of Gerald and Ryken Jo (Hannah) Fryslie. She attended the Iowa Falls Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1953. She had been married to Wesley Kracht; to this union one son was born: Randall. They were later divorced. On July 10, 1991, she was united in marriage to Dean Smolik at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Dean Smolik of Hampton; and her son, Randall Kracht and wife Kowk Kwen of Austin, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Eugene and Orlynn Fryslie.
