Iowa Falls -- Lois Vierkandt, 84, of Iowa Falls, died Friday, Oct. 6, 1995 at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames. Services were held Monday, Oct. 9, at St. Paul Lutheran Chuch in Buckeye with burial in the Buckeye Cemetery. Rev. John Wernecke officiated.
Lois was born Dec. 3, 1910, at Eldora to Will and Anna Kuhfus Ziesman. She graduated in 1930 from Eldora High School. On June 11, 1939, she married Ernest Vierkandt at St. Paul Lutheran Church. She and her husband farmed west of Buckeye until they retired and moved into Buckeye in 1984. She was a member of the Point Pleasant Community Church, near Eldora, and was confirmed into the Lutheran faith at St. Paul in 1940. She was active in Ladies Aid and taught Sunday School for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Ernest, of Iowa Falls; a son, Ronald, and wife, Jean of Alden; a daugther, Janice Smuck, and husband, Jim of Alden; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Hazel Lettow of Alden and Helen Cable of Eldora. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Vadna Eggelston.
