WELLSBURG-Vera M. de Neui, 96, of Wellsburg died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at the Presbyterian Village at Ackley. Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 29, at St. John Lutheran Church in Wellsburg with Pastor Bruce Zimmermann officiating. Burial was at Shiloh Cemetery in Wellsburg. A memorial fund has been established.
Vera was born Nov. 26, 1907, in rural Wellsburg to Ibeling and Minnie (Wiegman) Harms. She attended country school in rural Grundy County. On March 14, 1934, Vera was united in marriage to Ernest de Neui at Wellsburg. The couple farmed near Wellsburg for 47 years. She loved farming and took an active part in it, especially enjoying the harvest time. In 1981, they moved to Wellsburg. Vera was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where she sang in the church choir. Singing and crocheting were among her favorite activities.
Survivors include her two daughters, Eileen Murra and husband Robert and Velma Hippen and husband Roger all of Wellsburg; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest; two sisters, Martha Ascher and Lizzie de Neui; and two brothers Alvin and Norman Harms.
