COULTER - Glenn E. Langesen, 88, of Coulter died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at Anthem, Ariz. Graveside services will be Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at 10 a.m. at the Alden Cemetery in Alden. The family will receive friends Sunday, Jan. 4, from 6-8 p.m. at the Linn's Funeral Home Iowa Falls Chapel.
Glenn was born Nov. 26, 1915, at Alden to Alfred and Sylvia (Coy) Langesen. He graduated from the Popejoy Community School in 1933, and attended Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls. In 1940, he was united in marriage to Ruth Evans. Glenn was a farmer and sold seed corn and insurance near Popejoy from 1939 until 1951, when they moved to Austin, Minn. After three years, they moved to New Richland, Minn., where they farmed for nine years, moving to a farm west of Emmons, Minn., in 1963. In 1990, they moved to Coulter, and spent winters in Arizona for the past several years.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth, of Anthem; six daughters, Judy Blankenfeld and husband Dick of Surprise, Ariz., Kay Langesen and husband Ray Came of Salem, Ore., Jean Pyles and husband Bob of Mt. Vernon, Peg Shedenhelm and husband Tom of Cedar Rapids, Carol Hanson and husband Larry of Robins, Cathy Coking and husband Bill of Anthem; three sons, Al of Beloit, Kan., Dean of Lake Mills, and Robert and wife Doreen of Burke, Va.; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Irene Hackbarth of Dows. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, and one sister, Velma Mae Finley.
