HAMPTON-Earl Leon Eisentrager, 83, of Hampton died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at the Presbyterian Village in Ackley. Funeral services were Tuesday, Dec. 30, at the United Methodist Church in Sheffield with Rev. R. Karl Watkins officiating. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery, Sheffield.
Earl was born March 14, 1920, rural Dumont, to Frank and Lela (Truax) Eisentrager. He graduated from the rural Dumont school. Earl served in the U.S. Army in the Western Pacific as a teletype operator from 1942-46. On Dec. 10, 1941, he was united in marriage to Mildred Rewerts at rural Ackley. Earl farmed in the Dumont and Aplington area until 1961 when they moved to a farm west of Chapin. In 1973, they moved to a farm northwest of Hampton. Earl was a member of the United Methodist Church in Chapin. After retirement, he enjoyed attending ballgames of his grandkids and showing them his livestock, and going south for the winter months.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred, of Ackley; four sons, Dean, Gene and wife Julie, Duane and wife Susan all of Hampton, and Galen and wife Marlene of Sheffield; five sisters, Lucille Cassmann and husband Leroy and Sharon Eilers and husband Nathan all of Hampton, Dorothy Bruns of Dumont, Phyllis Harms and husband Harold of Bristow, and Beverly Folkens and husband Henry of New Hartford; two brothers, Dale and wife Mary Ann of Bristow, and Richard and wife Esther of Dumont; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one stepbrother.
Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton was in charge of arrangements.
