ACKLEY - Ida Meyer, 91, of Ackley died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at Heritage Care Center in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 1:30 p.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Ackley with Intern Mark Kvale officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ackley.
Ida was born July 1, 1912, in Grundy County to Ludwig and Ida (Matthies) Cordes. She attended Spring Valley School in Geneva Township in Franklin County. On March 12, 1932, she was united in marriage to Lloyd E. Meyer in Dumont. The couple farmed north of Ackley for 42 years. Ida was a homemaker and helped with the farm work. She was a charter member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and Church Women. In 1974, they moved to Ackley, where she lived until moving to Heritage Care Center on July 27, 1998. Ida enjoyed crafts, crocheting, flower gardens and baking for her grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter, Frances Fritz, and husband Marvin of Ackley; one son, Harvey Meyer, and wife Karen of Valentine, Neb.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Sophia Homan of Des Moines; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd; five sisters, Johanna Janssen, Nellie Witte, Helena Tack, Louise Devries and Anna Kampman; three brothers, Henry, Louie and Chris Cordes; and one grandson, Mark Fritz.
Sietsema Funeral Home of Ackley is in charge of arrangements.
