ORANGE CITY, Fla. - Byron Jon Pommrehn, 45, of Orange City, Fla., formerly of Alden, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at his home. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Dec. 20, at 3 p.m. at Immanuel Memorial United Church of Christ in Alden with Rev. Bob Miller officiating.
Byron was born Sept. 25, 1958, to Leland and Arlene Pommrehn. He attended Alden Community School, graduating in 1977. Byron attended Ellsworth Community College for two years and North Iowa Area Community College, where he received his degree in law enforcement. In 1986, he was united in marriage to Nancy Overmohle. The couple lived in Mason City before moving to Orlando, Fla., where he worked as a security officer for Lockheed Martin Corp. until his health prevented him from working.
Byron was active with the Boy Scouts. He was a member and an assistant scoutmaster of the Boy Scout Troop No. 610. He enjoyed working with kids, fishing, camping, watching football and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy, of Orange City; two sons, Andrew and Matthew, both of Orange City; one daughter, Melissa of Orange City; five brothers, Leroy and wife Carol of Des Moines, Leland and wife Lorna of St. Louis Park, Minn., Jerry and wife Mary Jo of Alden, Lyle and wife LuAnn of Rockford, and Gary and wife Lori of Alden; one sister, Jerrlyn Imsland and husband Rodney of Holly Springs, N.C.; his father-in-law and mother-in law, Leo and Rosemary Overmohle; and 49 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; and two brothers, William and Robert Pommrehn.
