STEAMBOAT ROCK - Edna Hartman, 90, of Lacombe, La., formerly of Steamboat Rock, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at the Lacombe Nursing Center in Lacombe. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Steamboat Rock, with burial in the Steamboat Rock Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church on Wednesday.
Edna was born March 3, 1913, in Stahl, Mo., to Franklin and Eva (Lipp) Lewis. On Aug. 17, 1940, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Martman at Cedar Rapids. She was a member of Bayou Baptist Church of Slidell, La., the president and oldest member of the "Keenagers," a senior citizen organization, and for years assisted in the collection of school supplies for needy children. Edna was a homemaker, beautician, clerk in Black's Department Store in Waterloo and a caregiver for her daughter-in-law, Marilyn Hartman, who suffered a stroke in 1999.
Survivors include three sons, Sterling Hartman of Slidell, Kenneth Hartman of Redfield and Richard Hartman of Layton, Utah; two grandsons; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; five sisters; and two brothers.
Surls Funeral Home of Iowa Falls is in charge of arrangements.
