ELDORA - Lucille T. Foster, 88, of Eldora died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at the Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Ivester Church of the Brethren, rural Eldora, with Pastor Timothy Button-Harrison, Pastor Mary Jane Button-Harrison and Pastor Marlene Neher officiating. Burial followed in the Eldora City Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
Lucille was born Dec. 7, 1914, on her parents' farm in Ivester to Alfred and Jessie (Strickler) Moats. She received her education in the Grundy County Schools. On Feb. 10, 1937, Lucille was united in marriage to Charles Foster at the Ivester Church of the Brethren. She was a lifelong member of the Ivester Church of the Brethren, where she was a librarian, taught the Cradle Roll Sunday school class and was a member of the Cheerful Helper Sunday school class until her death.
Lucille was a farm wife, worked at many jobs at the Hardin County Home and did house cleaning for many families in the Eldora area. She worked as a Kiwanis wife at the Hardin County Fair and the Turn About Shop in Eldora. For 17 years, she was employed at the Red Door Hobby Shop in Eldora. Lucille was a founding member and present member of the Kappa Iota Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Phyllis Harner and husband Bill of Eldora; one son, Richard and wife Lori of Pinellas Park, Fla.; two grandchildren, Doug Harner and wife Kathy of Chicago, Ill., and Traci Chandler and husband Paul of Rogers, Minn.; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leo Moats and Millard Moats and wife Etta all of Grundy Center; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her parents; one brother, Earl; and two sisters, Elva Large and Gladys Daleske.
Creps-Abels Funeral Home of Eldora was in charge of arrangements.
