ELDORA - Arthur "Art" C. Klettke, 79, of Eldora died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora with Pastor David Splett officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memory Garden Cemetery in Eldora with full military rites provided by the American Legion Walter-Sayer Post No. 182 and the V.F.W. Roll-Harless Post No. 3974. A memorial fund has been established.
Arthur was born Oct. 22, 1924, at home in rural Steamboat Rock to Julius and Anna (Frerichs) Klettke. He attended school in Steamboat Rock. Arthur served in the U.S. Marine Corps during W.W. II, and was stationed in the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Arthur farmed until 1958, when he enlisted in the U.S. Army, and served until his discharge in 1961. Arthur was a lifelong resident of Hardin County. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora, and member of the American Legion Walter-Sayer Post No. 182. Woodworking and painting were among his favorites.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Klettke, of Eldora; three daughters, Joyce Lanxon of Iowa City, Shirley Reagan and Karen Peacock and husband Kent all of Omaha, Neb.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Granzow and husband Lowell of Eldora; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Richard Klettke; and one niece, Shiela Klettke.
Creps-Abels Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
