HAMPTON - William "Bill" Sells, 84, of Hampton, formerly of Clarksville, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at the Franklin General Hospital in Hampton. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville.
Bill was born Aug. 28, 1919, at New Hartford to William and Emma Jane (Ackerson) Sells. He received his education in the New Hartford school system. On April 10, 1941, he was united in marriage to Hilda DeGroote at Albert Lea, Minn. The couple lived in Waterloo, where Bill worked at Rath Packing Co. and John Deere Tractor Co. They later moved to New Hartford and Clarksville. Bill operated his own TV repair shop and worked with Walter Perkins in Clarksville. He was employed by Shield Bantam in Waverly for 32 years, where he was a final inspector in quality control.
In November 2001, the couple moved to Hampton. Bill was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville. He enjoyed playing softball on the Shield Bantam team. Bill enjoyed woodworking, baking and cooking for family, and watching and feeding the squirrels.
Survivors include one son, Bill Sells Jr. and wife Deb of Iowa Falls; three daughters, Donna Kelm and husband Fred of Clarksville, Mary Hibner and husband Merlin of Garner, and Linda Brammer and husband Dan of Hampton; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda; his parents; 13 siblings; and a son-in-law, Dan Muller.
Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Clarksville is in charge of arrangements.
