MARSHALLTOWN - Helen Arlene Simcox, 89, of Marshalltown died on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, at Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 29, at Liscomb Church of Christ in Liscomb with Pastor Helmer Peterson officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Helen was born Aug. 19, 1914, in Liscomb, to Delbert and Josephine (Smith) Hilsabeck. She graduated from the Liscomb High School in 1934, and later attended beauty school. On Oct. 10, 1936, Helen was united in marriage to Lewis Simcox in Bethel Grove. She worked as a beautician and in the office of their business, Simcox Realty, in Marshalltown. Helen was a member of the Hillside Church of Christ in Marshalltown and former member of the hospital auxiliary. For the past several years she has lived in Southridge Nursing Home.
Survivors include her son, Joseph A.; two sisters, Reba Harris and husband William of Omaha, Neb., and Janet Stackhouse and husband Richard of Marshalltown; one brother Gerald Hilsabeck and wife Janet of Liscomb; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, Lewis; her parents; step-mother, Olive Hilsabeck; and one sister, Louise Harris.
Creps-Abels Funeral Home of Eldora is in charge of arrangements.
