CABALLO, N.M. - Arlyss E. Boyenga, 82, of Caballo, N.M., died Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, at his home after a short illness. A private burial service will be held in Truth or Consequences, N.M.
Arlyss was born to Edward and Tena (Bleeker) Boyenga on the family farm by Geneva. He grew up in Ackley and attended Ackley Community School. Arlyss served in the U.S. Air Force during W.W. II. He was employed by Rath's in Waterloo. Following his retirement, he moved to California, then to New Mexico. Woodworking, family and friends were among his favorites.
Survivors include two daughters, Marlys Johnson and husband Jerry of New Boston, N.H., and Laurie Swainston and husband Craig of Caballo; two sons, Phil Boyenga and wife Janet and Gregory Boyenga, all of Waterloo; two sisters, Marion Bodecker of Waterloo and Betty Wilkens and husband James of Marshalltown; one brother, Alvin Boyenga of Ackley; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Edward Boyenga; and his second wife, Gail Boyenga.ŠIowa Falls Times-Citizen 2005
