ACKLEY - Donald Hugh, 63, of Ackley died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Funeral services were Monday, Nov. 10, at Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley with Rev. Patricia Conner officiating.
Donald was born Feb. 7, 1940, in rural Cedar Falls at the family farm to Fred and Alice (Sells) Hugh. He was employed as a hired hand and at the canning factory in Ackley. Donald enjoyed gardening, old western and scary movies, fishing, photography and wildlife.
Survivors include his significant other, Elizabeth Hardwick of Ackley; two daughters, SuEllen Shaffer and husband James of Fayette and MaLinda Reynolds and husband Michael of Boone; two sons, Israel "Izzy" Hugh of Eldora and Donald Hugh Jr. and wife Donna of Sibley; two grandchildren, Nicole Reynolds of Boone and George Hugh of Sibley; one brother, Louie Hugh and wife Linda of Ionia; and five sisters, Joann Mayfield and husband Larry of Cedar Falls, Lois Bertram and Ida Folken, both of Parkersburg, Betty Richter of Minnesota and Faye Bass of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Julia Weers and Francis Hugh.
