ELDORA - Dorothy Maxine Cable, 86, of Eldora died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003, at Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora. Following cremation, memorial services will be Monday, Nov. 10, at 1:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Eldora with Pastor Anne Lippincott officiating. Burial will follow at the Eldora City Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Candace R. Cable-Feldon Memorial Fund established at the Hardin County Savings Bank.
Dorothy was born July, 16, 1917, in Iowa Falls to Frank and Elma (Janssen) Anderson. She grew up on a farm south of Iowa Falls and graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1934. She attended Iowa State University in Ames, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in education in 1938. On Aug. 11, 1941, Dorothy was united in marriage to Kenneth Cable in Kansas City. The couple made their home in Eldora. She taught school in Owasa, Steamboat Rock and Eldora, retiring in 1981.
Dorothy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Eldora and a member the Alpha Club. When her children were young, she was active as a leader for the Cub Scouts and 4-H club.
Survivors include two sons, Frank Cable and wife Nancy of Elk Grove, Calif., and Andy Cable of Eldora; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Rachel Anderson, of Iowa Falls.
Creps-Abels Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
