HAMPTON - Ronald E. Russell, 69, of Hampton died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at his home in Hampton. Funeral services were Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hampton with Rev. Jon Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Hampton Cemetery.
Ronald was born Feb. 9, 1934, at Toievola, Mich., to Ernest and Mae (Harju) Russell. He graduated from Northwood High School and from the University of Iowa with a degree in business. From 1952-1956, he served in the U. S. Army in the submarine force on the U.S.S. Rasher. On Oct. 23, 1959, he was united in marriage to Eunice Dahl in Northwood. He was employed by Fareway Stores Inc. in Hampton. Ronald was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hampton. He was an avid University of Michigan sports fan and enjoyed all sporting events, particularly those involving his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Eunice; one daughter, Denise Deike and husband Steve of Hampton; two sons, Don Ball and wife Erin and Dave Ball all of Shell Rock; one brother, Bart Russell of Tucoma, Wash.; one sister, Carolyn Thompson of Forest City; and two grandchildren, Brooke and Cole Deike. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home of Hampton was in charge of arrangements.
