Coral Berndt, (pronounced "Bearint") 86, of Iowa Falls and formerly of Buckeye, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2003, at her home. Funeral services for Coral Berndt will be 10:00 am Saturday, November 1, 2003, at the Linn's Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Sherman Cemetery, Buckeye, Iowa. The Linn's Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Coral June Teig was born April 4, 1917, at Radcliffe, Iowa, the daughter of Carl John and Julia [Berve] Teig. She attended Radcliffe Community Schools graduating valedictorian of her class. On June 25, 1938 she was united in marriage to Wallace Keith Berndt in the Lutheran Church parsonage, Williams, Iowa. To this union two daughters were born: Julia and Joyce.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church, U.C.C., Iowa Falls.

Coral June Berndt is survived by her daughters: Julia Newgaard of Iowa Falls, Joyce Eittreim and husband Marlyn of Wichita Falls, Texas; three grandchildren: Gene Newgaard of Iowa Falls, Paul Newgaard and wife Stephanie of Satsuma, Alabama, Sandra Moffett and husband William of Akron, Ohio; three great-grandchildren: Ashley Moffett of Akron, Cody and Taylor Newgaard of Satsuma; and one sister: Clara Larson of Hubbard, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Wallace Berndt; her parents: Carl and Julia Teig; three sisters: Nora Niblo, Frances Lage, Rosela Klug; and six brothers: Otis Teig, Mervin Teig, Nels Teig, Amos Teig, Clarence Teig, and Silas Teig.

Serving as casket bearers are David Larson, Kent Lage, Nick Teig, William Moffett, Gus Zierke, Robert Harsted, and Ronald Shaver.
