WATERLOO - Ed Boyenga, 71, of Waterloo died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at Covenant Medical Center. Funeral services were Friday, Oct. 17, at Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Waterloo, with burial in First Christian Reformed Church Cemetery in Wellsburg. Military rites were conducted at the church by American Legion Post No. 138 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1623.
Ed was born June 12, 1932, to Edward and Tena (Bleeker) Boyenga at Faulkner. He graduated from Ackley High School and attended Ellsworth Junior College. Ed served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In 1965, he married Leola Nederhoff in Wellsburg. Ed was employed by Chamberlain Manufacturing Co. until its closing.
Survivors include one daughter, Cindy Phillips and husband Donald of Belle Plaine; one son, Kent Boyenga and wife Jennifer Terry-Boyenga of Ottumwa; four grandchildren; two sisters Marion Bodecker of Waterloo and Betty Wilkens and husband James of Marshalltown; and two brothers, Arlyss Boyenga of Caballa, N.M., and Alvin Boyenga of Ackley.
Locke Funeral Home of Waterloo was in charge of arrangements.
