IOWA FALLS - Elizabeth "Libby" Meier, 91, of Iowa Falls died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, at Scenic Manor Nursing Home in Iowa Falls. Services will be Saturday, Oct. 11, at 10:30 a.m. at Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls with Rev. Don Preston officiating. Burial will be in the Hampton Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be directed to Ellsworth Municipal Hospital.

Libby was born Dec. 21, 1911, in Hampton to Karl and Louise (Thiem) Schmidt. She was adopted at an early age by Carl and Maggie Meier. She was a graduate of Hampton High School. Libby had worked at Carpenter Paper Company in Omaha for seven years, was a representative for H. W. Gossard Co. for four years, and worked for 17 years at E.D. English and Co. in St. Louis, Mo. She was a 50-year member of BPW, affiliated with both the St. Louis and Iowa Falls chapters. Libby was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls, a former member of the Iowa Falls Women's Club and was active in the Senior Center.

Survivors include one sister, Lenore McCord of Iowa Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Louie Meier.
