RADCLIFFE - Dennis K. Eller, 61, of Radcliffe died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services were Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Salem United Methodist Church in Hubbard with Rev. Ron Ridgway and Rev. Al Streyffeler officiating. Burial was in the Hubbard Cemetery.

Dennis was born Jan. 13, 1942, in Eldora to Verner and Inez (Hornung) Eller. He received his education at Evergreen Country School and graduated from Radcliffe High School in 1959. He completed the two-year farm operations course at Iowa State University and began farming full-time. He was manager of the family grain and livestock operation until the mid 1980s, at which time he became owner/operator of his own farming business.

On Dec. 28, 1970, he was united in marriage to Marcia (Dreier) Rooks in Eldora. Dennis was involved in both the Hubbard and Radcliffe communities. He was a 4-H leader of the Concord-Sherman Challengers, president of the Hubbard-Garden City Co-op, president of the Hardin County Cattleman's Association, served on the Radcliffe School Board, was a past member of Iowa Cattleman's Association, was in charge of the Hardin County Fair 4-H calf weigh-in for many years, and served on the Board of Midland Power Co-op. Dennis was a member of Evergreen EUB until it closed. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Hubbard, where he served in many capacities

Dennis liked farming, raising cattle and his German shepherd dogs. He enjoyed golf, traveling, fishing and camping, as well as winter trips to Texas that allowed him to hike, bicycle and bird watch. Baking was another interest, with the family favorite being his chocolate chip cookies.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Julie Sandvig and husband Kent of Grimes; one son, Matt Eller and his partner, Susan Harrison, of Portland, Ore.; one granddaughter, Liliana K. Sandvig; his father, Verner of Hubbard; and a brother, Loren Eller and wife Darlene of Ankeny. He was preceded in death by his mother; an infant sister; and his stepmother.
