DUMONT - Iris J. Alitz, 79, of Dumont died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at Muse Norris Hospice Unit in Mason City. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Aredale with Rev. Terra Amundson and Rev. Chuck Wallace officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Wood Cemetery in Plymouth.
Iris was born Aug. 23, 1924, in Dumont to Carl and Hazel (Miller) Stock. She graduated from Dumont High School. On Sept. 2, 1950, she was united in marriage to Milton Alitz at Aredale. Iris was employed by Sears as an interior decorator; owned a Country Kitchen restaurant in Davenport; and later moved to Hampton where she worked at the Hampton Nursing Home and cared for her family. She was a member of the Aredale United Methodist Church and Women's Auxiliary Legion Post No. 360 in Dumont. Iris enjoyed gardening and spending time with the family, especially the grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Mark Alitz and wife Lori of Mason City and Steven Alitz and wife Evette of Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother, Dale Stock and wife Claire of Dumont; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
The Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Dumont is in charge of arrangements.
