JEFFERSON - Donald Allen Severson, 62, of Jefferson died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003, at his home. Funeral services were Monday, Sept. 15, at the First United Methodist Church in Jefferson with Rev. William Daylong and Rev. Sheri Daylong officiating. Burial was in the Jefferson Cemetery.

Donald was born Dec. 10, 1940, in Forest City to Edward and Evelyn (Johnson) Severson. He was raised in Leland and graduated in 1958 from Forest City High School. Don went on to further his education at Waldorf College in Forest City and Hamilton Business College in Mason City. On Oct. 20, 1962, he was married to Rosalee Rios in Garner. Don joined Hardin County Rural Electric Cooperative as an accountant in 1963, and was promoted to general manager in 1974. The couple made their home in Iowa Falls for 30 years and have been members of the Jefferson community for 10 years.

In 1992, Greene County REC and Hardin County REC consolidated for form Midland Power Cooperative to which Don was named general manager, a position he held until November 2001. During his career, he served on numerous boards associated with the electrical industry. Don also managed Rockwell County REC and Guthrie Country REC. After a lengthy illness, he officially retired on Jan. 2, 2003.

Don was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jefferson, the Good Guys and a past member of the Jefferson Rotary Club. He found much enjoyment in street rods.

Survivors include his wife, Rosalee; two daughters, Brenda Severson of Newton and Vicki Warman and husband Dave of Scottsdale, Ariz.; his mother, Evelyn Severson of Garner; and two grandchildren, Jamie and Brandon of Scottsdale. He was preceded in death by his father.

Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home of Jefferson was in charge of arrangements.
