Bruce Lord 84, of Iowa Falls, passed away Friday at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital, Iowa Falls. Bruce has donated his body to the University of Osteopathic Medicine, Des Moines, Iowa. Services are pending with the Linn's Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel.

Robert "Bruce" Lord was born June 7, 1919 at Ainsworth, Iowa, the son of George Monroe and Mary Coulter [Taylor} Lord. He attended the Ainsworth Community Schools graduating with the class of 1936. He graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College, Mount Pleasant, Iowa in 1940 with a bachelors degree in Economics. On July 31, 1941, he was united in marriage to Velma Francis Ward at Maple Island, Hollandale, Minnesota. Bruce served with the Army Air Corp during World War II as a bombardier and receiving the Air Medal. He then received his master’s of Elementary Education from the University of Iowa in 1949. He served as elementary school principal in the Maquoketa, South Hamilton, and Independence, Iowa Community Schools Systems.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Iowa Falls; Mason's Orienant Lodge # 365, Ainsworth, Iowa; Kaaba Shrine Temple, Davenport, Iowa; the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge # 1694, Iowa Falls; and the Hyman-Peavey American Legion Post #188, Iowa Falls.

R. B. "Bruce" Lord is survived by his wife Velma of Iowa Falls, Iowa; his children: Roger Lord and wife Mary Ellen of Mesa, Arizona, Patricia Ann Lord of Iowa Falls, Iowa, Theodore "Ted" Lord and wife Patricia of Iowa Falls, Elizabeth Coningby and husband John of West Des Moines, Iowa; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one brother: Bryce Lord and wife Eleanor of Kalona, Iowa; and two sisters-in-law: Mary Lord of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Alice Lord of Ainsworth, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents: George and Mary Lord; and two brothers: Glen and Keith Lord.
