ALTOONA - Ronald E. Ulery, 69, of Altoona died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 25, at 10:30 a.m. at the Altoona Funeral Home. There will be a visitation on Sunday, Aug. 24, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ron was born June 26, 1934, in Rocky Ford, Colo., to Laurence and Fannie Ulery. On Sept. 28, 1961, he married Jean at Rocky Ford. Ron moved to Iowa in 1977 while working for Farmland Foods and lived in the Alden and Iowa Falls areas until 1988, when he moved to Des Moines. He retired from Roberts Dairy in Des Moines in 1999. Ron was a member of the Buick Club of America, Teamsters Union Local 387, and was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Air Force. He was an old car enthusiast.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; a daughter, Cindy, and her husband Dale Slobaszewski; five brothers, Fred of Camarillo, Texas, Ernest of Pueblo West, Colo, Norman of Abilene, Kan., Byron of Beloit, Kan., and Dale of Odessa, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a still-born son, David.
