AUSTIN, Texas - Steven C. Kramer, 55, of Austin, Texas, formerly of New Ulm , Minn., died of cancer Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at Seton Hospital in Austin. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Rev. Thomas Henning officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at St. Paul's Evangelical Cemetery in New Ulm. Memorials are preferred to the Insulin-free world foundation or to the donor's choice.
Steven was born Feb. 19, 1948, in New Ulm to Clayton and Adell Kramer. He graduated from New Ulm High School in 1996, and was active in Boy Scouts, achieving his Eagle Scout Award. On Dec. 14, 1968, he married Bonnie Plagge in New Ulm. He graduated from Mankato State University and went on to serve in the U.S. Army. Steve taught at Ellsworth Community College for 17 years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls and served on the church council. In 1991, Steve relocated to Austin, where he worked as administrator and teacher at Austin Community College. He was a member and officer of the Texas Association of Schools of Art.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; a daughter, Amy Baue and husband Paul of St. Charles, Mo.; a son, Joshua of Austin; two granddaughters, Shyla and Savannah of St. Charles; and numerous other friends and relatives. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, and father-in-law, Elmer Plagge.
